Junior’s Warped Mind
I have met men like Junior before. Men who think that because they have money and a big house and two women under one roof, they have conquered life. But what they have really done is built a kingdom on quicksand. Junior’s mind worked in a way that I still struggle to understand even now. He saw his wife and ex-wife being intimate and his first thought was not anger. It was opportunity.
What kind of man does that? Seriously. What kind of father looks at his children’s shocked faces and says leave the room, daddy needs a moment? A warped one. A man whose moral compass was broken so long ago that he does not even remember what direction north is. He rationalized it. He probably told himself that everybody got what they wanted. Hem got Tiffany. Tiffany got attention. He got both women. Win win.
But that is not how life works. You cannot consume everything and expect no consequences. Junior treated people like options on a menu. Pick one, pick two, why not pick three. He never considered what his choices cost the people around him. Especially his sons. Especially Kumar, who walked away that day carrying a weight no child should carry.
The thing about a warped mind is that it does not see itself as warped. It sees itself as liberated. Progressive. Open-minded. Junior probably thought he was living some enlightened lifestyle. But enlightenment does not leave children confused and damaged in its wake. That is not freedom. That is selfishness dressed up as sophistication.
A man who cannot control his appetites will eventually be consumed by them. That is not philosophy. That is observation. I have seen it too many times to count.
